Announcements
The new site treats announcements as dated, expirable items — never ticker text. Current announcements are served from the CMS below; expired items drop off automatically. The legacy site published its announcements as transient home-page popups; the content freeze captured the two popup records further down, which contained no published text.

How announcements work here
On the rebuilt site, announcements are structured records with a publish date and an expiry date: the utility bar always shows the latest current announcement and links here, and expired items drop off automatically instead of lingering as stale ticker text.
Captured popup records
The legacy home page showed pop-up announcements (post_type=popup). Two such records existed at content freeze; both captured with zero published words, so there is no announcement text to carry over. They are listed here with their origins rather than omitted silently — and are recorded in the CMS as expired announcements.

Announcements are now dated, expirable CMS records with a real feed above — and the utility bar's announcements link points here. Re-capturing the legacy popups' live content is on record for a future recapture pass, so nothing on the old home page is lost silently.
